Default Science fair project involving fire

How about this one: http://www.all-science-fair-projects.com/project731_58.html

It's an experiment on how fast different types of fabrics burn - it's good to know as it determines the fire-retardant properties of the clothes that we wear.

Fire is fun but be VERY careful!

Some potentially interesting reads:

You need Java installed in your browser though.

you could try something like which metals burn hotter or something like that all you would really need is a few diffrent metals like maybe magnesium or sodium and a lighter o ya and a bucket of water
