Unhappy Help a quite tricky question!!!

Hi, Mentors

Our class has got one question

You are in the middle of the desert and you have two bars of iron, one is magnetic and the other one is iron, how to find which one is magnetic and which one is iron?
Note: there is no iron or steel anywhere for lightyears around.

Tricky?
Yep none of us has got the answer!
Please help!!!

Red face just trying to help

well i'm not too sure myself but a magnet has a north and south side so maybe it may repell or attract? or could it be the weight? or looks?

Tricky one but with a catch. You have an iron bar too!!! The magnet will obviously attract the iron.

Keep the two bars apart. then bring them closer. The bar which attracts the other is the magnet.

You may also be able to put both on sand, there may be no other iron around, but the sand will probably have traces of the other 2 magnetic metals, kobol(not sure if spelled correctly) and nickel.

Default Possible Way

I beleive iron is much harder than magnet so by "feeling" u can easily tell which one is which. Am i right?

Smile sand and magnets

I like Ravencraft's suggestion!

The magnetized iron bar will be able to attract the iron ore and other magnetic ore out of the sand. Alternatively, sprinkle the sand on paper with a magnet underneath, - and you will see arching lines that trace out the lines of force of the magnet.

well it also could be the strength of the magnet or iron...
