Default Proper ratio of rocket fuel?

Hi I am making a homemade rocket for my next science fair. The only problem is I need enough thrust, and i do not know the proper ratios to make ammonium perchlorate. I have made it but the times before it seemed it was to powerfull and destroyed the chamber in which it was stored. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My topic is: "What solid propelent will provide more thrust and prove more efficent, Ammonium perchlorate (NH4ClO4), or Potassium Nitrate (KNO3)" ?

-Thanks

Default Rocket Fuel!

Hi Archenemy! You'll find your answer here http://www.all-science-fair-projects.com/science_fair_projects_encyclopedia/Ammonium_perchlorate

Follow the link to "Space Shuttle Solid State Rocket Boosters" and that page sets out the ratios for fuel. Please make sure that you're accompanied by an adult and observe every safety procedure!

Happy rocketing! - and do me know how it goes! You can always find me here!

thanks for the link, it gave me all i need to know

And i also understand all of the safty required when using Ammonium perchlorate, and Potassium Nitrate as they can be very dangerous.

Hopefully no kids try this if they do not fully understand how this stuff works... even with a parent.

when i am done with this i will post my results.

Cool site also
