Default Important Chemistry Information: behavior of gases

kinetic molecular theory

-presure and the number of gas molecules are directly proportional
-volume and pressure and indirectly porportional
-pressure and temperature are directly porportional
-temperature and volume are directly porportional
-temperature and velocity are directly porporional

In conclusion:

Example problem:
what volume will a gas occupy if the pressure on 224 cm cubed gas at 4.0 atm is increased to 6.0 atm/? Assume the temperature remains constant.

so substitute the variables with numbers. you know the volume is 224 cm cubed. so pressure one, which is 4.0 atm times 224 must equal 6.0 atm times X. You divide both sides by 6.0 atm and you get 160 cm cubed.

Answer: 160 cm cubed.
God grant me the serenity to accept things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I could, and the wisdom to know the difference.
