Default potato battery

I worked with potatoes and it did not work what can I do to make the bulb or clock work by a battery????please help me!

I did this one in school and I got a perfect 100. All you must do is get a cheap soccer ball and a bunch of cotton balls. Cut a slit into the soccer ball about 6-7 inch long. Fill the ball full of cotton. The day of the drop, move the egg to about middle and move cotton balls over top so egg is nice and snuhg. This works trust me I hade best one and we dropped it from about 75 feet!
