Default Help with the electric Generator Project

Ya. I did as the instructions said. I got my parents to even help me so I don't mess-up alot. Well we buillt it but it doesn't work. I spin the magnets with the nail but the lightbulb doesn work. We can't even create a spark by touching the two wires together. IS the wire useless now that a bit of insulation came of? The head of the nail scraped off some insulation of the wire coiled around the box. I have till feb.27th to do my projec but we already wates 50 dollars for the magnets and wire. Are those bubls in the keychain miniflashlights good enough to use? I seriously need help. I have time but I still have to create the formal lab report and all that jazz. Again anyhelp will be appreciated. Thanks.
