"KIDNEY FAILURE, and HOW IT IS CAUSED"

My family and I are really having a tough time trying to figure out a way to develop a problem, hypothesis and question for this subject. I have three people/subjects, so far, that I can do research on, my grandfather who is 80 years old who lost the usage of his kidneys 2-1/2 years ago and already on dialysis, a family friend/doctor who is nearing 60 and is in the process of waiting for a possible kidney transplant and also does his own dialysis with his own machine and a friend/neighbor who is only 41 and has only 42% usage of his kidneys. How can we form an AWESOME/Winning project with such a subject???? Both my brothers have won trophies and gold medals in past county wide science fairs!!! I have teachers and a principal who know this about my brothers and woulds like to see my project go ALL THE WAY!!!! PLEEEAAASSSEEE HELP ME achieve this!
