Question I need some help with a project on underground water...

I am thinking of doing a project called 'Can underground water flood a city?'. You can probably tell what it is about. But i've run into a problem... I've been trying to research it and nothing has come up. I've got some things on how underground lakes are made but thats not nearly enough research. I was thinking of building a scale model of Dallas, and then flood it, but there's no underground lake underneath Dallas so it's not very realistic. Anyone have some suggestions?

Sure, that would be great,...How can you help? So far i have come up with a procedure, Basically i have a mix of aquarium gravel and soil. I put starch packing pellets as the lake, and use different amounts of water and time how long it takes for the soil above the 'lake' cave in..thus a flood... Anything i am missing?
