Exclamation Effect of Soy on Digestion

I have WAY to much paperwork I have to fill out for my project!!!For my science fair project I want to test people on how soy affects them. I would like to see how often people get stomachaches and headaches when they drink soy. I want to record five peole who currently digest any type of soy,and five people who don't. My teacher says that I will need to fill out alot of paperwork and I need to get my project approved by an Ph.D. I have to have mostly everything ready by January 5th, 2006 ( which is also my B-day! ). Do you think I'll have enough time? What do you think about my project.
please answer!

Default How do people react to soy

Interesting!

But first, what is your hypothesis? Are you trying to prove that out of a group of 10 people, most of them cannot digest soy?

I suggest that you think about your hypothesis first. An example could be: "My hypothesis is a larger percentage of caucasians are unable to digest soy, as compared to asians" ...something along those lines. Then, you will need a large sample of caucasians, and an equal number of asians to test your hypothesis. The larger the number, the better. (which means more paperwork, which means, you had better get started early!)

Did you manage to find that PHD to help you sign off?

Talking just trying to help

Fact: speople have no choice but to drink soy because they have allergic reactions (sorry if my spelling is bad).

well Asianas tend to drink soy more than milk either they can not afford milk or they are allergic...

good luck with your project

That's correct: I've heard for example that 90% of Asians in the USA cannot take regular milk (they can get really sick). So instead, they take Soy milk.

I'm a bit concerned that you might not be able to find a whole lot of people who are allergic to Soy! You should definitely do some research first to find out if soy causes any sort of allergic reaction, if any, to a significant proportion of a population before starting on all that paperwork!

A LOT of soy is used in Chinese cooking. They saut`e their food basically with soy sauce. I'm a Asian and i'm not too sure about that 'allergic' fact.

That's a good observation about the prevalence of soy in asian food preparation. Although, the it is processed somewhat to make soy sauce - which could possibly alter it's effect.

Nevertheless, it's a fact that Soy is heavily marketed as an alternative to dairy products for the lactose intolerant - which implies that soy is significantly less likely to cause allergic reaction in the general public. This is based on marketing observations.
