Red face Sorry

Sorry I am in Nineth grade and I need to do a Science Fair Project. I would very much enjoy doing it on cats. Maybe something like "Can cats be right or left pawed?" "Does the way the owner act have anything to do with the way the cat acts" "Are the owners sleeping habits and the cats sleeping habits the same" Or "Is the owners hand they write with the same as they're cats paw that the cat mostly hits things thrown at it with?" Or "why do my cats always lay on the homework that i'm doing?"

Wisteria's suggestion "why do cats always land on their feet" sounds like an interesting one. I'm sure there's scientific basis behind it. But you have to determine if that's enough of a project.

i was looking for an answer and i found this site. thought it might help you.

it also has the reason why a cat lands on four feet...

Default Cats science project

Hmm, very interesting observation ScienceFreak... very interesting article too!

I'm actually curious as the article states that :
"Most are surprised to learn that a cat stands a greater chance of survival if it falls from a higher place than from a lower place. New York veterinarians gathered data from their feline patients, which clearly supports this fact. Ten percent of their patients died after falling from 2-6 stories, while only five percent of the fatalities occurred when their patients fell from 7-32 stories"

Of course, there's no way we could do such an experiment with live cats to prove/disprove the hypothesis! It would be against the law!

But one thing we can do is to use a furry toy that's roughly the same size and shape as a falling cat, to measure the velocity on impact. Hmm...just a thought!

Default Simpler cat experiment

SouthernGirl, here's a simpler experiment you can try:

Cat's prefer milk to water
