1)How does temperature affect the breathing rate of a fish?

Fish are cold-blooded... So, I don't think it would affect breathing in the fish because they will just adjust to it.

Take the pets for a run...
Measure some water, and put it into a dish or something they can drink from.
Then see how much each animal drinks...
You can find out which animal drinks the most!

[NOTE: this may not work because of the size of the animals and the energy consumption of the different animals... But it's only a sixth grade project... So, I dont think they would say anything about it... Remember, it's just an idea... PLAY RESPONSIBLY ]
