Default Moldy bread- pure water or salt water?

I have a science fair in eight days as of 3/8/06. The project has to be an experiment, meaning that they have to have a manipulated variable. Well, I was thinking about seeing if bread with a few drops of salt water would grow less mold than pure water. I think it would- if salt destroys plant growth it would probably halt/prohibit fungus growth, right? Feedback please!!
(Remember it is in eight days, so please think if I would have enough time!)
EDIT: Maybe I could BUTTER one piece of bread and see what happens?

Thumbs up Alternate Variable

You are correct about the salt thing. Salt does make BACTERIAL growth go cold turkey. It stops the growth, therefore preserving the bread and stopping it from molding. This happens because most bacteria do not like to feed and grow off of salty water. Instead of using salt water, i would use vinegar. Vinegar, is proven, (by me), to stop bacterial growth on foods. Anyways, Good Luck!!!! with your project!!!
