toothpaste idea

looking for a little help doing a toothpaste efficiency comparison with 4th grader. He would like to obtain extracted teeth, mount and stain with coffee, etc. then use various toothpastes on the market and brush for a set number of days to see which cleaned(whitened) the teeth the best. Good idea? also, if we cannot get teeth do you think another material might be good?? thanks

that is a good idea my friends mom did that so her children wouldn't drink pop any more (it makes holes in your teeth)

That's a great idea, and suitable for a 4th grader.

But perhaps you don't have to obtain extracted teeth if it's too difficult to do so. You could instead consider distributing the different brands of toothpaste to various people and asking them to use the toothpaste diligently for a fixed number of days, then comparing the results. You could have them agree to have their teeth photographed before and after the science project?

Whilst there would be need to be a margin for error, as you would be depending on the participants to brush their teeth regularly and thoroughly, it would be the next best thing if you cannot obtain enough samples of extracted teeth.

i thought that pop desinigrated your teeth.
