Default how does different water affect the growth of plants?

I am entering my first science fair project. I am using different water to see how it affects the growth of plants. I want to use tap water, salt water, vitamin water, distilled water, sugar water and purified water. I am curious, what is the best type of plant to use in this experiment? Should I use seeds or young plants?
