Exclamation E Coli

After adding an ampicillin resistant plasmid to E Coli, is it possible to take the plasmid back out and make the e coli non-resistant again?

Default Bacteria Transformation

If plasmids and Ecoli are your cup of tea, I have just the project for you! See http://www.all-science-fair-projects.com/project867_78.html

as for your question, I've not tried that myself, but will my colleagues if they know. It would be interesting to find out - although I suspect that the answer is no - ie: once the bacteria acquires the resistance, it remains resistant.
