Well, if your Science Fair is like the one I go to, then the preliminary rounds are pretty much presentation and looks. Then, the judges start asking scientific questions, and eventually, I believe, you have to stand up and talk in front of all the judges, but I have never gotten that far so I'm not sure.

Well, last year, my friends studied the social habits of mice. She got past a couple of rounds. You could also try studing mold growth. Although it is basic, if presented well enough and scientifically acurrate, it has the potential to get you to the state levels.

ummm...if you really think mold growth is a great idea, then girl, go for it!! but just to let you know that last year i did if dry bread grows mold faster than wet bread... and i gotta tell ya, it wasn't a big hit. try the browse section, then go to the food part, you'll have a lot of ideas there!! Good-Luck!!

hey tabitha,
what i strongly suggest is this- How is the needle of a compass affected by magnetic fields?
(It got my best friend third place. I f i knew what the guy that won 1st place then i would tell you, but i really don't know)

Default It has something...

It has something to do with the metals inside the earth, and the earth's magnetic field.

...Well, the compass needle would have to be metal to actually respond to a magnetic field. Earth's magnetic field is due to the alignment of the atoms in iron, nickel, and cobal. The frequency of this alignment gives the Earth its magnetic field. Anyway, another interesting aspect, the magnetic field of Earth is not the main contributor to the blocking of harmful material from space, it is actually the thickness of the atmosphere that block most of the harmful rays.

It has been a month since she posted and hasn't returned, I don't believe she'll be coming back.
