Just put the egg between to big sponges. Make sure the sponges are soft....like those big ones used at car washes, and use a few rubber bands to hold it together. Or you could fill a zip-lock bag 3/4 full with flour and corn starch, just throw the egg in.

Lightbulb time of impact

This egg drop project works because it increases time of impact. If something hits something quickly with little time the force will be greater, therefore it will I have a greater chance of breaking. If the time is increased this force will lessen therefore the chance of the egg breaking is less. I don't think that makes sense...It makes a lot more sense if you actually see it.
