Default 9th Grader needing help

I have been reviewing many sites on science fair projects and have decided on a topic. The question is:

In which environment (of base or acid as determined by a ph scale) will bacteria survive and reproduce the most?

I have made a list of some materials and variables but just wondering if anyone had any suggestions in case I missed something. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am in Biology and the science fair project is required as part of the course.

I am going to need:

PH paper (to determine where the substance is on the PH scale)
Petri dishes (or something like that to hold it)
Microscope
Bacteria (but I don't know where from)
Substances (try to get one for every level on the PH scale)

but I was wondering if anyone had more suggestions.

Your list seems pretty complete, although I think you should find a place to get bactieria, try these sites
