Exclamation chemical used to view insect brains?

My son would like to do a science fair project comparing the size of an insects brain in relation to the size of it's body. He has a microscope and stains needed to set up slides but we can't find out how to make the exoskeleton of the insects, translucent enough to let the light pass thru it and view the brain. Can anyone help?

Cool !OOOOOhh Brains!

I think there is a way to help you. If you have the "brains" at hand as well as the microscope you could do a prosedure that docters do with humsn brains after they have been taken out of a deseces person. what the docters do is they cuth the brain or the control canter into two haves after that what they do is take thin scices of the brain and they put in itto a slide to see the object.
!!Hint!! The thinner the slice the clearer the object will become.
