Default Help me with my sons 3rd grade project

We have to to answer the following:

Does the soil type affect the rate of water erosion. I have been to every website and have no idea where to start! This is 3rd grade I can't imaging what is coming next.

Talking Easy....

Well you see its very easy to imagine...
Now imagine thousands of extremely small soft paper ***** in a plate.
If you blow on them, most of them will fly away,
into the air...
Now imagine very big hard metal *****, if you blow them you will never get them flying into the air. right?
Same with soil,
If the soil is made out of really small(light particles) water can easily erose most of the soil, while if you have big heavy particles of soil it would be quite hard to erose them with the water!
Easy right?

Talking

also hard soil would be compacted or trees and plants will hold the soil together...
