Default Variables and controls

Variables would be the people themselves - they should be of different age groups, race, gender etc...

All these are variables which you should test systematically.

As for controls - these would basically be the constants for your experiment. For example, if you are going to select people from different age groups but they're all going to be male, then you should state gender as a control.

Other controls would include the temperature, lighting condition, time of the day, activity/pulse levels of the people etc... Think these through and you'll find that it's not so difficult!
