Default Different detergents

That's a very interesting topic!

First, you can look at the various detergents you have at home (laundry detergent, dish washing detergent, even hand soap), and list out what type of chemical compound is present and how much of it is present in the detergent (sometimes they give you a percentage). Do not use hazardous chemicals (such as bleach), and also don't mix cleaning solutions together (this may cause toxic compounds to form).

For the background research, find out more about each chemical compound.

For the experimental part, do the test with the different detergents (on different spots on your shoes!) to see which one cleans your shoes better. It would be nice to take a picture of the shoe before, and after you clean various areas with the different detergents.
