It is possible for the plants to live
If you keep them in an isolated place within your house
Use, maybe, soda bottles as pots, put them by a window (hopefully not open) and let the natural light...

Sorry if I'm like late but what about this:

Liquids that don't mix. You will use Water, Oil, And syrup. These liquids shouldn't mix if you put them in this order Syrup first, oil next and water...

Wow seems complicated, but I'm not the best in construction :) Well maybe if you build it out of a material that floats easily and on the inside put a timer. A timer and a lock, when 30 sec are up...

Does the color of the light have a effect on your eyes. Like if you shine a red light in someones eyes will they screw up their face like if it was a white light. Do it with different color lights...

The hypothesis can probably be..."If I tighten the rubber bands then the sound will become higher. If i loosen them the tone will be deeper":)
