Deli meats and testing bacteria
I am trying to work on a new area of interest for my biology project. I am in 9th grade Honors and I have done science fairs but not in this field. I don't know how to really make this manageable but worthy of an A and still be able to get the rest of my homework done. I don't know exactly what I need to do. I would like to test one brand of deli meat at at least 3 different stores for bacteria growth and determine which store has the safest meat to buy. Canada had a recent outbrake with tainted meats and I am worried about our products. I have never worked with this type of experiment and I am not sure what to do. It is a lot different than working on DNA extraction. I don't know what to do and what supplies I'll need. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to shore this up and have a control and variables? Maybe the idea need to be more specific but I don't know how to get it there. Help.

I think the hard part would be finding out how to measure the amount of bacteria...maybe try something else?
