Leonardo DaVinci

My dear students(and everyone else), I hope that I will manage to achieve even 1% of what I'm up to... To get you closer the greatest GENIUS of all the times... Leonardo DaVinci...

Who was he, and how did his life moved on, is not that well known... But, to the science, he presents a man that actuallt first designed a helicopter(very simple model), parashoots, first real cannon, that will later first be used in a war, etc...

But he is the most famouse for his paintings, such as Mona Lisa. Many of asks ourselves what is the secret of her? Her smile? No.... Leonardo used a special tehnique, called "sfumato" painting, like looking trought the fog...

... But what makes him the more famouse, are his secrets... And he had them a lot...

very secretive, I see. Are you a teacher?

Leonardo the Scientist

Did you know that Leonardo recorded over 13,000 pages of notes and drawings, which fuse art and science? Amon, are you a science teacher?

adding on...

well to what I've learnt in art class that the "sfumato" tehnique is tha background if you see closely it is different on one side and the other is different too...

this man had a lot of tallents and I think Van Golth (Sorry about tha spelling forgot his name another artist) did something similar example his art works were not admired during his life time but now it is very famous (very unfortunate) :( ... It is like DaVinci suffered a similar thing with his inventions...

more to come...

Hey, first to aplogize for my non-responding, I've been busy a lot lately, so I just hadn't time...

So, one by one... No, I'm not a techer, but I have finished a philosophy college, and I'm, among the other stuff, an artist. Amon(to ur knowledge:)) is an egyptian god of male-sex, and L'isa(franc., in egiptian Izida), a female ones. Don't let the prejudices think instead of you, please!!! It is how DaVinci gave Mona Lisa the name. If u switch letters in Amon u get-Mona! Or it could be just a coincidence:))(then again, the main goal of Sion priorate was keepin the truth of holy woman, and her sexuality)

Well, Leo was among the first to use"sfumato" tehnique, and lot of artists after him used it while painting. Wrll, it's not exectly like u said, "sfumato" "looks" a bit "foggy", there are no sharp limits between two areas... Take a look at Mona Lisa, from a book,or somwhere and ull see it!

More questions please!:)))) :D

anything interesting of Da Vinci?

Amon L'isa 12-04-2005 01:44 PM

well

Surreee:)

Leonardo was a member of Sion Priorate, a secret brotherhood, that was made in 1099. Since then and till now the masters have been changing, and from 1510 to 1519 he was a master....

Leonardo also(well then, they assume)that, as a master, he had to keep a secret about Jesus Chirst(I'm sure that most of you read DaVinci Code, from Den Brown, though most of those things are just a fiction), and Graal. While making his famouse work-"The secret dinner"(I'm sorry if this is not the real name in english, I don't know it), he draw Maria Magdalena next to Jesus!!! Make urself sure! Take a look, at its photo. She is wearing blue and red and so is he. Together they are making a figure like "V", and that's a simbol for Graal. Maybe not, but who knows????

wisteria 12-06-2005 12:22 AM

note when reading DaVinci Code don't take it seriously!!! (some people have even believed in it)...

Back again

Ofcourse! A lot of parts(of the book) were taken from other books, and writers themselves claimed that that was just a fiction... That's a first thing that I did't like about it...But...

Leonardo, as a scientist, begun interesting in science during his boyhood. As an apprentice at his art master Verrocchio, he had observed a lot and, and had learnt more...
So, eg., water wheels turned millstones to grind grain and Archimed's screws lifted water from streams providing a ready supply for drinking and washing. Many of such a machines were pretty similliar, ao it wasn't too hard to fix them. But Leo developed a new atittude about machines. So he set out to write the first systematic explanations of ow actually machine works AND how the elements could be combined.

His tremendous talents as an ilustrator allowed him to draw his mechanical ideas with exceptional clarity. Five hundred years later, after they were put on the paper, many of his skatches could be used as a blueprints, to create perfect working models.

And check this out! It is known that many of his ideas were written reversed, from right to left, not like us. It's so called "mirror handwriting", and it's been a puzzle for a long time for other ppl, becouse none of us have used to read from right to left(except, the arabian ppl:) So, the question is: why did he do that?
First, I must say that he might be naturalu left hand... there are some assumes that he was seen doing and painting using left hand, and that was pretty unusual at that time...
So the first reason might be:1. keeping his ideas more safer from stealing!
2. he kept some of his secrets and ideas from Roman Catholic Church becouse they sometimes didn't agreed with her beleives...
3.Being left handed ment if he write from left to right, the ink would be messy, so he chose doing the same thing just reverse:)

how interesting but wouldn't it be a bit confusing to read backwards like right handers would write this

e.g. today the world is nice...

and so he would right like this?

from e.g. ...ecin si dlrow eht yadot

I'm confused?
