When you put water and oil in a beaker together, the water will float to the top, while the oil will sink to the bottom. This is because oil has a greater density than water.

Actually, this has always been a misinterpretation. Water is DENSER than oil. Oil floats ON water. (Water is one of the most dense liquids.)

I think you may be mistaken, because after I posted this, I tried the expiriment myself and the water floated on the oil. This proves that oil is denser. But who knows?
