William Whewel (1794-1866) is widely known as the father of philosophy of science. He studied at Cambridge University as a mineralogist, moral philosopher, mystic, and polymath, not to metion educator. He wrote essays, that are now known as "natural theology" His argument was that the knowledge of the world is acquired because of uniform and fudemental laws of science that we can discover. He is also know for his theory of induction.
